Hi, my name is Angel, and I am glad that, one way or another, you have found the project I built to track the whole process.
USATeslata is a project I decided to start around my decision to buy an electric car for my family. The condition was that it had to fit within 40,000 leva (I know that currency does not exist anymore ;)), so roughly EUR 20,000.

How it all started...
My search started with a Hyundai Kona with low mileage and a newer model year, passed through a few other options, and eventually ended with Tesla, specifically a damaged 2023 Tesla Model Y from the USA.
In different groups I found quite a few comments from people who had already gone through the process. If you spend enough time, you can understand a lot about the steps and the costs, but I decided to spend a bit more time and keep a public record of everything around the purchase, transport, repair, and ownership of a car like this.
At the time of writing this update, the car has already been bought and the information on the site is current, so I will not go into extra detail about the purchase itself here. Those details are already available in the diary and will keep being updated there.
What to expect from USATeslata
- Video updates: throughout the process I will try to add video updates on YouTube and the other social channels, so people can see the real condition of the car and the different repair stages. I will try to be present for every important part of the process and have something recorded to share.
- Costs and problems: I will keep a visible record of how much this car has cost me and what problems I have had with the repair, parts, transport, and documents before it gets on the road.
- Ownership: for at least one year, I plan to share and record what I do to the car, how I charge it, and how many kilometers it covers, so this can become a detailed ownership diary for a Tesla Model Y from the USA or Canada.
- Accessories: since I will use it as a personal car, expect notes about useful accessories and gadgets that I buy and actually use.
