Model Y at 40 km/day on night electricity: about €22/month versus petrol, diesel and LPG

1,218 km/month · 0% DC

The answer with these values

Electricity costs less than the compared fuels

Electricity and fuel only

What could change the choice?

How robust is this result?

€46.93 of additional cost for the cheaper car would equalise the totals over the displayed period.

Here we compare electricity with the cheapest fuel option entered. The table shows petrol, diesel and LPG separately.

What to check

  • Your tariff, AC/DC mix and actual consumption. Purchase, repairs and resale are outside this energy comparison.

Data and assumptions

Home tariffs are supplier-specific. Public rates sample two networks; time and parking fees are excluded. Consumption and charging time remain estimates for the selected conditions.

For about 1,218 km/month, electricity costs about €22, versus €141 petrol, €140 diesel and €69 LPG at the assumed consumption rates. Eight hours from a socket covers driving in this example. More expensive charging or frequent DC top-ups reduce the saving. This compares energy, not purchase payback.

What could change the answer?

An electrician must confirm that the socket, wiring and protection suit sustained charging. Winter heating, parked consumption, interruptions and longer journeys can require more energy. Parking, subscriptions, charger installation and vehicle ownership costs are excluded.

Cheaper energy does not automatically mean convenient charging. Check charging stops and time in the detailed calculation, and compare each fuel separately.
