What are we comparing?

The hybrid is new. Tesla can be new or used. Enter the final road-ready prices in Bulgaria. Prices are your offers, not foreign advertised prices.

How often can you charge the hybrid?

Why charging changes the answer

These are full charges spread through a typical week. The calculator uses the electric range first, then petrol. Zero means driving the hybrid without plugging it in; Tesla still needs charging using the mix below.

On each extra long trip we allow one starting charge, weighted by your charging frequency, and no charging on the route. The trips are added to your regular kilometres.

Where does the electricity come from?

Home and public prices

The home share applies to electricity, not kilometres. Public charging uses DC for Tesla and AC for the hybrid. The hybrid can still run on petrol when you do not plug it in.

Home: mean night tariff of the three Bulgarian suppliers. Public: the site’s Eldrive/Electrip sample, excluding parking and idle fees.

How the starting values are chosen

Tesla uses the site’s owner consumption sample, with charging losses added once. RWD and Long Range here select the warranty mileage limit; adjust consumption for your specific version.

For PHEVs, petrol consumption is the manufacturer’s charge-depleted figure, not the low weighted advertising figure. Electric range starts at 80% of WLTP. Electricity is a conservative estimate from nominal battery capacity divided by that range, with 90% charging efficiency. It is not measured consumption; usable capacity and engine assistance can change it.

Cold weather, motorway driving and heating can reduce electric range and make the engine run even with charge remaining. Adjust both range and consumption for your use.

Servicing: oil, filters and checks

No engine oil or spark plugs. Filters, brakes and tyres still need care.

Where do the service prices come from?

Editable planning allowances, not MG quotes: €225 for oil, filter and checks, plus €125 for the filters/brake-fluid interval and €150 for spark plugs. Only the UK independent MG HS oil-service floor of £124.95 is published; the euro budgets and extras are assumptions. Confirm the PHEV quote.

Tesla cabin filter: €102.85 at independent specialist Tesland, including VAT and duct cleaning. Brake-fluid check €35 and tyre rotation €30 are editable allowances, not published Tesla prices. Replacement fluid, extra dealer work, wear and repairs are excluded. Used Tesla assumes servicing is up to date.

Package prices include oil and filters: they are counted once, not added again from the task list. MG uses separate task allowances. Confirm local prices and the exact vehicle service booklet.

The Tesla examples exclude HEPA/carbon filters (every 3 years if fitted), brake-caliper cleaning for salted-road use and air-conditioning work on older cars. Add these to your manual annual service budget when applicable.

MG also lists fuel-filter and transmission-oil changes at 4 years / 60,000 miles, coolant at 5 years / 75,000 miles, and key batteries. These are outside the example budget. Include the dealer quote in your manual service budget.

Car value after your ownership period

A resale estimate reduces the cost of ownership. You still pay the purchase price upfront.

How reliable is the resale estimate?

J.D. Power, Germany, June 2026: three-year-old cars at 60,000 km retain 36.9% of list price for BEVs and 41.9% for PHEVs at trade value. These are powertrain averages, not forecasts for a particular Tesla, MG, BYD or Geely in Bulgaria.

We apply that benchmark proportionally to your offer and interpolate the first three years. After age three, 10% annual loss is a planning assumption. Used Tesla starts from its current age and price, so its earlier depreciation is not charged again. There is no automatic mileage or condition adjustment. Edit the estimate for your car.

A manually entered resale value is spread evenly from today to the end of your period. The chart follows your edited assumptions; it is not a guaranteed sale price.

Finance here means interest and fees only; the purchase price already includes principal. For a lease ending early, include settlement fees. Resale and repair reserves are your assumptions, not predictions.
